About the event

Want to learn how to play an awesome team sport on roller skates? Our next roller derby taster  session is on Sunday 14th May and it's free to attend!

TASTER SESSION INFO!

Our taster sessions  are divided into 3 parts.

1 - First, you'll get  to watch a short demonstration from the team on what the sport looks like to  play.

2 - Then, you'll get  some skates on your feet and learn some basic skills to get you rolling.

3 - And finally, you'll  get to try out 'Sock Derby'! Where you have a go at playing Roller Derby, but  in your trainers!

Once you've secured  your spot for the taster session, please arrive promptly at 11.15am, outside  Cressex Community School. We'll do signing in and kitting up from that time,  ready to start skating at 11.30am. The session itself is 3 hours and will  finish at 2.30pm.

SECURE YOUR PLACE!

This is a taster session running ahead of our 11-week Learn to Skate course. To book your place on the free taster session OR sign up for the 11-week course straight away,  please email BBHRderby@gmail.com ASAP.  We have a limit on capacity and we don't want you to miss out!

BUT WAIT, WHAT IS  ROLLER DERBY?!

Roller Derby is a  fast paced, full contact sport played on quad roller skates. Trust us, you'll  be hooked in no time.

While it's a niche  sport still growing in the UK, particularly rebuilding after the global  pandemic, Roller Derby in general has an amazing, inclusive community across  the world.

If you want a taste  of what it looks like, there's a showcase tournament at Wycombe Leisure Centre  on the 27th and 28th August, hosted by Five Nations Roller Derby. Big Bucks  High Rollers is playing on the Sunday!

Our team is WFTDA  affiliated and welcomes all women, non-binary and gender-expansive people  comfortable skating on a women’s team. If you are not sure if this is for you,  please don’t hesitate to contact us for clarification.
